Is that a specific reference (or "nod") to something in particular?

It wasn’t meant to be. I say things like that to myself while visiting various internet properties. Constantly.

For example, girltips? Or brotips? Or any tips? Or other places that like to tell me what’s good and right and righteous and proper.

“What even IS THIS PLACE?” I say. And then I shake my head to release it from the cyber rubberneck and reach for the theoretical door.

I figured people might want an explanation for these random-seeming tips. Why is any of this even here? That’s it, that’s all!
